The Residency in a Nutshell

Artists Off Grid is an independent and non profit artist-in-residence centered in the visual arts located just outside Montpelier, VT. This residency, off the grid and in the wild, allows residents to experience nature as they create artwork outside for two weeks (normally July 5-20).  This year because of COVID we are only one week August 15-21, 2021.  Each day will require attention to meet basic needs for shelter and food. As we work together to meet these needs, we will build a community which will be reinforced by daily discussions of art theory and technique. Critiques are held every few days to discuss progress as each artist explores the landscape in their own visual language.

The mission of these two weeks is to disentangle from our technology, to slow down and simplify, and to focus on artmaking.

Guidelines and Fees

Artists-in-residence are selected by their proposals submitted by an online open call. Artists Off Grid gives special attention to those projects looking at the environment, sustainability and technology, using nature as inspiration and/or as media.  There is a one time application fee, however Artists Off Grid does not charge money to go on this residency.  For more detailed information go HERE
